Most visitors don’t really read your website — they scan it. And your very first sentence is the one and only chance you get to catch their attention, because that’s the one you write in the biggest font.
So if your site opens with something like “Welcome to my website!”, then you’ve said exactly nothing that matters. Nothing about who you are, how you help, or why they should stay longer than 5 seconds. If people can’t instantly tell what’s going on, they’ll bounce — and forget you.
Solution: Write a headline that clearly states how you help solve a problem they have. The more specific you are, the more likely they’ll stick around.
If you need a bit of inspiration, head back to my homepage or any subpage and take a look at the headlines. You’ll feel how they pull you into the content without even trying.
If you're not just after a catchy headline, but a whole website that actually speaks to people – and keeps them there – send me a message. I'd be happy to help.
